Joseph Anthony Ferrario

Joseph Ferrario was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Honolulu in 1978 and was elevated to Bishop of Honolulu in 1982. In 1985, Bishop Ferrario was first accused of sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy beginning in 1975, accusations which became public in the media in 1989 as well as in a 1991 lawsuit. He retired in 1993 and died in 2003. Ferrario continued to be named as an abuser in lawsuits filed in 2013 and 2014.
