James A. Jackson
Father Jackson arrived in Hawai’i in 1948 and worked at Sacred Heart Church in Naalehu for more than 30 years. In the late 1950s, Jackson was treated by Honolulu psychiatrist Dr. Robert Browne, who is also alleged to have sexually abused boys. Browne blamed a surgical procedure for Jackson’s admitted compulsion to touch teenage boys and told church leaders that Jackson was improving. Plaintiffs have since alleged that Jackson in fact continued to abuse boys. Jackson died in 2005.
