
Jack Niland
Ordained: 1976
Jack Niland was a Capuchin friar who worked in Guam and Hawai’i in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and the early 2000s. He died in 2009. Two lawsuits filed in 2017 alleged that Father Niland sexually abused the plaintiffs when he was working in Guam in the 1970s and 1980s. Another lawsuit filed in 2018 alleged that Niland exposed himself to a young girl in Guam during the same time period. Niland came to Hawai’i in 1999 and spent the rest of his career there.
